Meet
Dr. Dirmeyer
Dr. Sharon E. Dirmeyer born in
El Paso, Texas, resided throughout the United States before
moving to Tidewater in 1974. Her bachelors degree was
obtained at Virginia Tech as an Animal Science Major,
with a special interest in physiology of reproduction.
As an avid equestrian, she spent 5 years after graduation
professionally training and showing horses and instructing
riders. She then returned to the Virginia-Maryland Regional
college of Veterinary Medicine to obtain her degree. During
this period of time she did a clerkship at the Royal College
of Veterinary Medicine in England to broaden the perspective
of her education. Dr. Dirmeyer has worked in the area
since 1989 with small and large animals, and currently,
through Salty Paws, is proud to continue offering high
quality compassionate care to companion animals.
Meet Dr. Fannin
Dr. Susan Fannin joined the Salty Paws staff as an associate veterinarian in July of 2008. Dr Fannin and her family recently relocated from Indianapolis, in where she has spent the previous 8 years working at two different high-quality practices, concentrating on small, companion animals.
Dr. Fannin received her DVM from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech in 2000. She received her BS from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA in Small Animal Science.
Dr. Fannin lives in Yorktown with her husband, Chris and children, Clayton and Caroline. She is expecting their third child this summer. Her family also includes their beagle-mix named Tycho, and two cats; Indy and Dodger.
Meet Dr. Johnson
Dr. Elizabeth Johnson is a 1994 graduate of The University
of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She has been
practicing on the peninsula since 1995 and joined Salty
Paws as a part time associate in 2005. Dr. Johnson’s

children, seven year old Nicholas and Molly who is four.
